5 Smart Investment Strategies When The Stock Market Is Down — Part 2 of 2

by Carlos Leave a Comment

Here are five smart moves to take when the Stock Market is down:

1. Don’t panic.

2. Stop listening to news of doom and gloom.

3. Consult your Financial Advisor instead of your neighbors or your equally ignorant friends.

4. Keep your goal in mind and remember your investment Time Horizon.

5. Keep investing.

The first of were already discussed in detail in the previous article of this series.

This is now the second and final article and we continue with the last three items.

Towards the end of the article, I’m going to answer a very interesting question asked of me by two of my friends: “Carlos, have you lost money investing in a Stock Fund?”

Read the rest of the article to learn more and become a confident investor.

5 Smart Investment Strategies When The Stock Market Is Down — Part 1 of 2

SALEF vs PSEi 5-Year Return Ending June 2015

“By focusing on the daily ups and downs of the market, people forget the more important point: Stocks rise more than they fall.”

Those words are written by Ric Edelman in his book entitled, The Truth About Money.

It is the nature of stock investments — whether Individual Stocks or Stock Funds – to go up and down in values. But in the long run, stocks have proven to be very rewarding for those who were patient in their investments .

I am writing this article at the time when the Philippine Stocks are experiencing a nose-dive.

Keep reading to learn some smart strategies that are appropriate for such times as this.

Can A Mutual Fund Go Bankrupt? What Happens To Your Money Then?

by Carlos Leave a Comment

Flow of Mutual Fund Investments

I am writing this article for two reasons:

(1) To once and for all address the fears of mutual fund investors ( or would-be investors ) who are forever worried about their investments just vanishing into the thin air like what usually happens in Pyramiding Scams or banks that go out of business and;

(2) To elaborate my response to a client’s SMS message sent to me the past weeks, which I quote,

“Sir good morning. Bigla lang pumasok sa isip ko…. Paano kung biglang bumagsak ang FAMI. Ibig sabihin ba nito lost na ang investment namin?”

Such smart question deserves a smart answer!

So please read carefully and may this article help you to increase your Financial IQ.

What Is A Mutual Fund?

by Carlos 1 Comment

FAMI Mutual Fund Corporate Structure

It’s mutual fund back-to-basics in this article.

But instead of giving you another single-statement definition of a mutual fund, I’m going to introduce three concepts that you should remember always.

Mutual Fund investors in the Philippines should know the following:

Concept #1: A mutual fund is an investment company structured as a business corporation and managed by a Fund Manager.

Concept #2: Mutual Fund is a pooled investment money coming from many investors with a common financial goal.

Concept #3: A Mutual Fund is guided by an investment philosophy or objective.

Plus, you will also learn the many uses of mutual funds in helping you aim for and hit your financial goals in life.
